Viewpoint invariant exemplar-based 3D human tracking

چکیده
This paper proposes a clustered exemplar-based model for performing viewpoint invariant tracking of the 3D motion of a human subject from a single camera. Each exemplar is associated with multiple view visual information of a person and the corresponding 3D skeletal pose. The visual information takes the form of contours obtained from different viewpoints around the subject. The inclusion of multi-view information is important for two reasons: viewpoint invariance; and generalisation to novel motions. Visual tracking of human motion is performed using a particle filter coupled to the dynamics of human movement represented by the exemplar-based model. Dynamics are modelled by clustering 3D skeletal motions with similar movement and encoding the flow both within and between clusters. Results of single view tracking demonstrate that the exemplar-based models incorporating dynamics generalises to viewpoint invariant tracking of novel movements.

Is human object recognition viewpoint dependent or viewpoint invariant under "everyday" conditions? I. Biederman and P.C. However, our analysis indicates that (a) their conditions for immediate viewpoint invariance lack the generality to characterize a wide range of recognition phenomena, (b) the extensi...
متن کاملRecognizing Simple Human Actions Using 3D Head Movement
Recognizing human actions from video has been a challenging problem in computer vision. Although human actions can be inferred from a wide range of data, it has been demonstrated that simple human actions can be inferred by tracking the movement of the head in 2D. This is a promising idea as detecting and tracking the head is expected to be simpler and faster because the head has lower shape va...
متن کاملAction Representation and Recognition
Recognizing human actions is an important and challenging topic in computer vision, with many important applications including video surveillance, video indexing and understanding of social interaction. From a computational perspective, actions can be defined as four-dimensional patterns, in space and in time. Such patterns can be modeled using several representations which differ from each oth...
متن کامل3D Pose-by-Detection of Vehicles via Discriminatively Reduced Ensembles of Correlation Filters
Estimating the precise pose of a 3D model in an image is challenging; explicitly identifying correspondences is difficult, particularly at smaller scales and in the presence of occlusion. Exemplar classifiers have demonstrated the potential of detection-based approaches to problems where precision is required. In particular, correlation filters explicitly suppress classifier response caused by ...
متن کاملDoes Human Action Recognition Benefit from Pose Estimation?
Introduction The earliest works in action recognition focused on tracking body parts and classifying the joint movements. These pose-based approaches, while straight-forward, require accurate tracking of body parts, which is a challenging task in its own right. As recent trends in action recognition have shifted towards natural and unconstrained videos (e.g. films, broadcast sports, Youtube vid...
